INTIMATION

As you will be aware the Scottish Government has moved South Ayrshire into the fourth tier with effect from tomorrow. This will affect our worship arrangements in Ayr in two significant ways.

First the maximum number of persons attending worship services has been reduced from 50 to 20. This clearly creates difficulties for us as our average attendance in recent weeks has been over 30.

Secondly the exemption which permitted worshippers to cross local authority boundaries to go to church no longer applies, and those of us who live outside South Ayrshire will no longer be able to travel to Ayr.

It has been decided that for the immediate duration the morning services in church at Ayr will be discontinued. It is planned to have a Zoom service at 11 am on the same basis as the Zoom service on Sunday evenings which will continue.

This arrangement will be reviewed in the light of the changing national situation.

This will be possible because of the availability of prerecorded sermons from outside preachers to whom we are very grateful.

Since North Ayrshire is not affected by the change, it is not proposed to alter the worship arrangement there.

We trust that you will do everything in your power to support these new arrangements, both by your prayers and by your presence.

Weekly Offerings

Dear All

You should all know by now that all Church services and meetings have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. However, this does not mean that everything stops; the buildings need to be kept heated, insured and maintained which results in bills having to be paid. I am also waiting to hear from the Free Church offices about what is going to happen regarding the monthly remittances (this is the money we have to send to Edinburgh to cover Ministerial and administration costs even when the Church has no Minister). With this in mind it would be extremely helpful if you could continue to fill your weekly offering envelopes or better still if some of you could set up standing orders/transfer so that you can pay your offerings from your bank account directly into the Church’s one; this would cut down visits to the bank.

Unfortunately, there is no letter box at the Church to enable you to “post” your envelopes once they are filled. We can arrange some way of collecting them from you after the 3-week lockdown. With regards to standing orders/bank transfers these are easy to set up either weekly or monthly and can be cancelled at any time. I can give you the Church’s Bank Account details to enable you to set up a standing order or bank transfer; just email me.

I know that many of us will be affected financially due to the Coronavirus but every little bit helps: -

"Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."  Mark 12:41-44

If you would like to have your weekly envelopes collected or picked up at a suitable place just send me an email – lindsay.keithayrfch@talktalk.net.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by email lindsay.keithayrfch@talktalk.net or by phone (01292 441853) if you want to discuss things.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

God Bless
